1979年東京生まれ。東京芸術大学付属高校を経て、2001年3月東京芸術大学卒業。
これまでのコンクールにおいて、フルート界の歴史をことごとく塗り替えるという天才的快挙を成し遂げた。現在最も注目されるフルーティストである。
1996年「第7回日本木管コンクール」、1997年「第14回日本管打楽器コンクール」、1998年「第67回日本音楽コンクール」の全てに史上最年少第1位入賞。また、国際的にも1998年「第44回マリア・カナルス国際コンクール」で、史上最年少で第2位に入賞。さらに、これまでに朝日新聞社賞、E. ナカミチ賞を受賞するなど、受賞歴は枚挙にいとまがない。これまでに国内の主要オーケストラとの共演、テレビ・ラジオ等へのゲスト出演、さらにはいくつもの国際音楽祭にゲスト出演するなど、様々な活動を展開しており、今後の活躍が大いに期待されている。


Born in Tokyo in 1979, Kaori Fujii is one of the more noteworthy flutists of our time, and she has demonstrated her exceptional and innovative abilities in numerous competitions.
She won first prizes in the 7th Japan Woodwind Competition in 1996, the 14th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition in 1997 and the 67th Music Competition of Japan in 1998, and was the youngest winner in the history of these competitions. She also took second prize in the 44th International Competition Maria Canals de Barcelona, again as the youngest winner in their history. Other distinctions include the Asahi Newspaper Award and the E. Nakamichi Award. She has performed as a soloist with many leading Japanese orchestras, and has appeared as guest artist in a variety of venues including radio and TV programs, international music festivals and others. The breadth, depth and creativity of her activities distinguishes her as a truly outstanding and promising musician, from whom much can expected in the future.
