2006年、スタジオジブリ映画「ゲド戦記」の挿入歌「テルーの唄」でデビュー。
その後もスタジオジブリ映画「コクリコ坂から」の主題歌「さよならの夏～コクリコ坂から～」（2011年）、フジテレビ系月9ドラマ「いつかこの恋を思い出してきっと泣いてしまう」の主題歌「明日への手紙」（2016年）、TBS日曜劇場 「天国と地獄 ～サイコな2人～」の主題歌「ただいま」（2021年）など数々の映画・ドラマの主題歌やCMソングに起用され、今なおロングセールスを記録している。近年では2024年に発表した「森の小さなレストラン」が日本のみならず世界各国のSNSを中心にバズを起こすなど、「今、世界中が求める歌声」と評される類稀なる唯一無二の歌声が多くの聴き手を魅了している。
In 2006, she made her debut with "Teru's Song," a featured song for the Studio Ghibli film Tales from Earthsea. Since then, her songs have been featured in numerous movies, dramas and advertisements, including "Sayonara No Natsu –Kokuriko-Zaka Kara" (2011) as the theme song for the Studio Ghibli film From Up On Poppy Hill, "Asu E No Tegami" (2016) as the theme song for the drama Itsuka Kono Koi wo Omoidashite Kitto Naiteshimau, and “Tadaima” (2021) as the theme song for Tengoku to Jigoku –Saiko na Futari. These works continue to achieve long-term sales success.
In recent years, her 2024 release "Mori no Chiisana Restaurant” went viral on social media not only in Japan but also around the world. Her one-of-a-kind voice, which often described as "the voice the world is longing for right now," continues to captivate a wide audience.
