Studied under Yoritoyo Inoue. Won the second prize of the 54th Japan Music Competition. Entered Toho Music University. Yoko was sent Finland as overseas trainee by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and studied at the Sibelius Academy in Finland under Prof. Arto Noras. After graduated with top honors, came back to Japan. In 1990 she won the special prize at the Mustislav Rostropovich International Cello Competition. By now, she was given a seat as soloist on such as Philharmonique Orchestre de Radio France, Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, Wien Konzertverein Chamber Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and received high acclaim for her musicality. She appeared in the Festival De Divonne in France as a member of the Roge Trio in 2001. Her album with the Finnish accordion prodigy Mika Vayrynen "PICTURES at an EXHIBITION" became the ’Specially Recommended’ by the classical music magazine ’Record Geijyutsu’. She had a radio program with Toru Watanabe in NHK-FM "Oshaberi Classic". The year 2002 was her 15th Anniversary of her musical life, she challenged for all works of Beethoven’s Sonata and played them in Japan with Prague Symphony Orchestra in January 2003. 13 titles were released including "KODALY/Sonata for Cello Solo Op.8" (won the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Award for year 1995 and Japan Professional Music Recording Ward), "J.S.Bach / Suite" (’Specially Recommended’ by Record Geijyutsu), her first popular music album "Norwegian Wood" and so on. Besides she won many awards such as the jury’s incentive award in the 3rd Arion Award (’85), Muramatsu Award (’88), Kirishima Music Festival Award (’88), the jury’s incentive in Mobile Music Award (’91), Nippon Steel Fresh Artist Award (’91) etc.
