ケアリイ・レイシェル（Keali‘i Reichel）

ハワイ、マウイ島出身、在住。17歳からチャント（詠唱）を独学で学び始め、19才で自身のフラ団体（halau）を結成。

1995年、デビュー作『カワイプナヘレ』が当時チャートのトップにいたマドンナを抜いてNO.1を獲得、彼の次の作品がリリースするまで首位をキープし、ハワイの音楽史上過去最高のセールス記録を樹立。その年のハワイ版のグラミー賞にあたるナ・ホク・アワードでアルバム・オブ・ザ・イヤー他、主要5部門を受賞し、またホノルル・アドヴァタイザー紙がその年最も活躍した人におくるスター・オブ・ジ・イヤーに輝く。

翌1996年に発表したセカンド・アルバム『Lei Hali'a』 はハワイのみならずアメリカ・メイン・ランドでも話題となり、ビルボード・ワールド・チャートのトップ3にランク・イン。この年のナ・ホク・アワードでも主要4部門を獲得、名実ともにハワイアン・ミュージック・シーンのトップに躍り出た。

日本では2000年以来毎年夏に行っている「KUKAHI IN JAPAN」ツアーは例年大盛況。2006年には「涙そうそう」のハワイアン・カヴァー「カ・ノホナ・ピリ・カイ」が携帯電話のCMソングとなったことで爆発的な人気を呼び、現在までもハワイアン・ミュージック～ハワイアン・カルチャーを代表するアーティストとして高い人気を誇っている。
